Alain Valette is a French art knifemaker who has been creating knives since 1986. Known for combining traditional craftsmanship with mechanical experimentation, he creates elaborate folding knives, fixed blades, and sculptural pieces for collectors.
Among his signature innovations is the Art-Chimède mechanism, which uses a removable crank and an irreversible worm-drive system to open and close the blade. He later developed the Eurêka system, replacing the detachable crank with a retractable control inspired by a watch crown. Each Eurêka is individually made, with extensive handwork in engraving, carving, and finishing.
Valette’s work represents the mechanically inventive side of high-end custom knives, where engineering and artistic detail are integral to the design.
