The handle is made of antler with very refined carved ornaments. A head and core of Medusa Gorgon, considered being Gorgoneion, a magic amulet to turn away harm and evil influences. The figure is formed as a ship bow that turns into ship’s board and keel. Very detailed carving of diverse additional decorative ornaments such as waves leaves and nets. Melchior ring on the guard with stamped leaf decoration.
