The TSPROF K4 is the company’s most advanced full-size guided knife sharpening system. Its main advantages come not from a different sharpening principle, but from a high-rigidity turning mechanism, three-stage angle control, tool-free Quick clamps, a removable clamping arm, and a detachable Axicube Shift digital angle finder.
Those upgrades are aimed at professional sharpeners, collectors maintaining expensive knives, and experienced users who already own a serious selection of 6-by-1-inch abrasives. For occasional edge maintenance, the K4 may be more machine than necessary.
Quick verdict
The K4 can reduce setup, adjustment, stone-change, and edge-inspection time while providing finer control over the sharpening process. It does not automatically produce a sharper edge than a properly used K03 Pro. Its value depends on whether these workflow improvements solve problems the user actually encounters.

The K4 is a fixed-angle guided sharpening system that holds a knife in movable clamps while an abrasive travels across the cutting edge on an 8 mm guide rod. The clamping arm — the horizontal frame carrying the knife clamps — rotates 180 degrees, allowing both sides of the blade to be sharpened without removing or repositioning the knife.
The 2026 configuration combines the established K4 platform with matte black anodized aircraft-grade aluminum components, TSPROF Quick clamps, the detachable Axicube Shift angle finder, five diamond-coated plates in the Standard kit, and a fitted IP67 protective case.
Unlike compact guided sharpeners, the K4 is intended for a dedicated workbench. Assembled dimensions are 370 × 230 × 245 mm without the abrasive holder, and the system is suitable for folding knives, kitchen knives, hunting knives, large fixed blades, and blades up to 430 mm long.
The K4 does not automate sharpening. The operator still determines the edge angle, abrasive progression, pressure, burr-development strategy, and final edge finish. What the system provides is a rigid and repeatable geometric reference.

The official TSPROF product page lists a broader geometric range of 9°–39.5° per side. The operating manual specifies a 12° minimum in a defined setup using standard Quick clamps, a 2.4 mm blade spine, a 4 mm abrasive, and 17 mm of blade projection beyond the clamp jaws.
Both figures can be correct. The achievable angle depends on blade width, spine thickness, clamp type, abrasive thickness, and how far the blade projects from the jaws.
The 0.01° figure is the most easily misunderstood K4 specification.
It does not mean the Axicube Shift measures or certifies the absolute sharpening angle to one-hundredth of a degree. The operating manual gives the angle finder a display resolution of 0.1° and stated measurement accuracy of ±0.1°.
The micro-adjustment mechanism operates on a smaller scale. According to the manual, one click changes the guide position by approximately 0.01°, with the actual value ranging from 0.008° to 0.013° depending on the current sharpening angle. The manual also lists mechanical angle-setting precision as up to 0.01° with a tolerance of ±0.003°, although it does not describe the test method used for that specification.
These are separate specifications:
The micro-feed is therefore best understood as a fine relative adjustment. A user can make small, controlled changes to where the abrasive contacts the bevel, even when a single click is below the angle finder’s displayed resolution.
This is particularly useful when returning to the apex with a fine abrasive, compensating for stone thickness, reducing a burr, or adding a controlled microbevel. It should not be marketed as laboratory-grade angle measurement to 0.01°.
TSPROF specifies that more than 30 N of lateral force is required to deflect the clamping arm by 0.1°. The manual also gives a flip-position tolerance of ±0.1°.
These figures are more meaningful than a general claim that the system is “stable.” Rigidity matters during coarse reprofiling, work on long blades, and sharpening with heavier abrasives.
The manual also lists separate factory acceptance limits measured at different load points. At the outer edge of the arm, deflection under a 10 N load must remain within 0.2° with the adjustment screw fully tightened and 0.3° with it released. At the clamp-edge axis, the permitted deflection under 30 N is 0.2°. These figures describe different test conditions and should not be treated as directly interchangeable.
The force required to rotate the arm can be adjusted through the rear trapezoidal thumbscrew. It can also be fully locked, which reduces the risk of accidental rotation when the knife is exposed to heavier grinding loads.
A complete lock is useful during demanding work, but it should not remain overtightened unnecessarily. The manual warns explicitly that excessive locking force shortens the service life of the sharpening system and can cause a fault.
The K4 separates angle setting into three mechanisms:
The lift uses a steel helical rack, which gives the wheel-and-rack pair a smoother action than a straight-cut rack. The rough stage is useful when moving between substantially different edge geometries. The rack-and-pinion stage is better for matching an existing bevel with the marker method. The micro-feed becomes relevant only during final apex work and compensation for small changes in abrasive position.

The Axicube Shift attaches to the far abrasive stop through a Picatinny rail, magnet, and locking screw. It can be removed for charging or to reduce the moving weight of the abrasive holder during fine finishing. The near and far stops are interchangeable.
The unit uses a 180 mAh lithium-polymer battery charged over USB Type-C. The manual specifies at least eight hours of operation and 15–20 minutes for a full charge.
Calibration uses the supplied prism and must be repeated whenever the system is moved to another surface. After calibration the display always reads 14.0° on the prism regardless of how level the bench is, because the angle finder references the machine’s current position rather than an absolute horizontal.
It is a useful setup and verification tool, but it does not replace visual bevel inspection, marker testing, magnification, or burr evaluation.
The Standard kit includes two TSPROF Quick clamps. They use eccentric levers for tool-free blade installation and support spine thicknesses from 1 to 7 mm.
Jaw width is 24 mm, maximum clamping force is 300 N, and the clamping arm allows up to 160 mm between the clamps. The jaw structure distributes pressure for more uniform closure.
The manual is specific about clamping technique: the jaws should sit close to the blade but not be overtightened, and when correctly closed they remain parallel and flush against the blade without bending outward. It also recommends masking the blade with painter’s tape before installation to prevent scratches.
Blade geometry still matters. Full-flat grinds, swedges, distal tapers, narrow blades, and flexible fillet knives may require different clamps, shimming, or altered clamp positions. No universal clamp can compensate for every grind and spine profile.
The complete clamping arm can be removed while the knife remains secured in its clamps. Removal takes a 3 mm hex key to loosen the retaining nut; on reinstallation the manual specifies tightening the nut a further 10–15 degrees.
This allows the operator to take the blade away from the main system for microscopic inspection without losing the original clamping position, then continue sharpening without reclamping the knife or re-matching the bevel.
For expensive custom knives, wide polished bevels, or edge work requiring frequent inspection, this is one of the K4’s most useful workflow improvements.
Changing between stones of different thicknesses changes the effective sharpening angle unless the guide height is corrected.
The K4 provides two methods of compensation:
The mechanical compensator is useful when working with stones from different manufacturers, worn and new abrasives, diamond plates on different backing materials, or a progression that ends with thin films or leather strops.
The advertised range of 9°–39.5° per side describes what the system can achieve under favorable geometric conditions. It should not be interpreted as a guaranteed range for every knife fitted to the standard Quick clamps.
A wide chef’s knife projects farther below the clamp jaws than a narrow traditional folder. At the same guide height, the wider blade can usually be sharpened at a lower angle. A thick spine, narrow blade, tall clamp, or thick abrasive may raise the minimum achievable setting.
The manual uses a defined reference configuration and gives a minimum of 12° per side. This is the more conservative figure for buyers evaluating typical use with the included clamps.

The K4 uses the common guided-system abrasive format rather than a closed proprietary cartridge.
The manual lists a working range of 20–215 mm, while current product pages specify up to 210 mm. This covers conventional 6-by-1-inch stones, many Edge Pro-format abrasives, resin-bonded diamond stones, CBN stones, ceramic stones, natural finishing stones, and mounted stropping media. Maximum abrasive weight is 250 g and maximum guide travel is 360 mm.
The K4 clamping arm is also compatible with clamps from the TSPROF K03, Kadet, and Pioneer families. This matters for existing TSPROF owners because specialized fillet, single, whole-milled, and narrow-blade clamps may be transferable rather than purchased again.
Abrasive selection has a direct effect on sharpening speed, scratch pattern, burr behavior, and final cutting aggression. Users working with high-carbide steels should choose abrasives according to steel composition and heat treatment rather than relying only on grit number. Both packages use the same core K4 platform, the same Quick clamps, and the same Axicube Shift. The differences are in the abrasive set, the specialized clamps, and the attachments.
The TSPROF K4 Standard 2026 is the base configuration.
Kit contents
The five plates run F150 for edge profiling and initial bevel shaping, F220 for coarse work and scratch reduction, F400 as the main sharpening stage, F600 for refinement and pre-finishing, and F1000 for finishing and burr removal.
That progression is sufficient for reprofiling, general sharpening, edge refinement, and burr removal, but users seeking a highly polished bevel will need additional fine abrasives or stropping media. Standard is the better fit for users who already own premium 6-by-1-inch abrasives or intend to assemble a steel-specific progression.
The TSPROF K4 Maximum v3 2026 adds a complete Alpha N resin-bonded diamond progression, dedicated fillet clamps, L-attachments, and an Ultra Convex attachment for a broader range of blade geometries.
Kit contents
The Alpha N stones cover the full progression: SD161 (160/125, 100 mesh) for initial grinding and reprofiling, SD101 (100/80, 150 mesh) for coarse sharpening, SD61 (60/40, 240 mesh) and SD29 (28/20, 600 mesh) for the main sharpening stages, SD15 (14/10, 1500 mesh) for pre-finishing, SD8 (7/5, 3000 mesh) for finishing, and SD4 (3/2, 9000 mesh) for final polishing. TSPROF rates these resin-bonded diamonds for steels up to 70 HRC.
Maximum v3 makes sense for a buyer starting without an abrasive or clamp collection, or for anyone who regularly sharpens fillet knives and convex edges. Standard is the more economical choice when the stones and specialized clamps are already on the bench.

The K4 does not necessarily create a sharper apex than the K03 Pro. Final edge quality still depends on:
A skilled user with a rigid K03 Pro and quality stones can produce an edge comparable to one made on the K4. The K4 primarily makes the process easier to repeat and manage.
Its practical improvements are most noticeable when the user frequently changes abrasive thickness, removes the clamped knife for inspection, sharpens long blades, performs substantial reprofiling, or needs extremely controlled corrections near the apex.

TSPROF provides an official English-language video version of the K4 operating manual, covering assembly, calibration, clamp operation, and angle adjustment. Neither should be treated as a controlled K4-versus-K03 comparison unless the same knife, steel, edge angle, abrasive progression, pressure, and sharpness measurement method are used on both systems.
Independent owner feedback is more useful for the K4-versus-K03 upgrade decision. One K4 owner reporting approximately 20 sharpened knives stated that the final results were not materially better than those produced on a K03, but that comparable results were achieved faster and more reliably.
This individual report is anecdotal, but its conclusion is consistent with the K4’s design focus: the main improvements concern setup, control, and repeatability rather than a fundamentally different sharpening principle.

It is harder to justify for someone maintaining a few ordinary kitchen or EDC knives. A less expensive guided system can produce an excellent working edge when used with suitable stones and proper deburring technique. The K4 is best suited to users for whom faster installation, repeatable settings, easier inspection, and efficient stone changes save time across many knives.
Experienced sharpeners who understand burr formation, steel response, abrasive progression, and edge geometry can use the micro-feed and modular clamp system effectively.
The removable clamping arm and controlled angle adjustment are particularly relevant when maintaining expensive handmade custom knives, where an uneven bevel or damaged finish can be difficult to correct.

The TSPROF K4 is a highly developed guided knife sharpening platform. Its strongest arguments are measurable arm rigidity, a controlled turning mechanism, three-stage angle adjustment, Quick clamps, a removable clamping arm, and effective abrasive-thickness compensation.
The system’s 0.01° specification is useful, but it must be interpreted correctly. It refers to the approximate mechanical micro-feed increment, not the absolute measurement accuracy of the Axicube Shift.
Compared with the K03 Pro, the K4 provides a more efficient and refined workflow. It is easier to adjust, inspect, and configure for complex sharpening work. That does not mean it will automatically produce a sharper edge.
For professionals, advanced enthusiasts, and collectors who already own quality abrasives, the improvements may justify the price. For occasional users, a less expensive TSPROF model can deliver similar practical cutting performance with fewer features and less bench space.
The K4 should therefore be viewed as a specialist precision tool rather than a universal recommendation. Its value comes from reducing setup friction and improving repeatability — not from removing the skill required to sharpen a knife correctly.

The revised component is fitted to current matte-anodized systems, while eligible earlier units can be updated by the manufacturer. When buying a used K4, ask whether it belongs to the early series, whether the update was completed, and whether supporting documentation is available. Warranty and service coverage should be confirmed with the seller for the specific unit and region.
