Anna Šebestová is a professional hand engraver based in Zvolen, Slovakia. Largely self-taught, she developed her artistic foundation through years of study in visual arts and pottery before focusing on hand engraving as her primary discipline. She later completed basic engraving training at COPT in Uherský Brod, Czechia, a technical training center affiliated with Česká Zbrojovka.
Šebestová works with metals and precious metals using a range of traditional hand-engraving techniques, including fine line work, deep relief, Bulino dots and lines, gold inlay, and multicolour inlay. Her approach combines drawing, composition, controlled cutting, and surface finishing to create detailed decorative work intended to function as part of the object rather than as ornament added afterward.
Her engraving is particularly well suited to firearms, knives, jewelry, and other metal objects where craftsmanship and visual detail are central to the finished piece. On hand-engraved knives, techniques such as Bulino, relief engraving, and precious-metal inlay can transform bolsters, handles, and other components into individually composed works of decorative art.
Working as an independent engraver, Šebestová accepts commissions from clients internationally. Her practice is based on continuous experimentation and the refinement of traditional hand techniques, with an emphasis on precision, artistic composition, and work intended to remain visually relevant over time.
