The Herman Morpho is a modern balisong from Herman Knives, built around the same precision-first approach that defines the maker’s folding knives. The name refers to Morpho butterflies, known for their shifting blue appearance in motion, and the idea fits the knife well: Morpho is designed around movement, mechanical feel, and controlled handling rather than static presentation alone.
This version uses a mirror-polished Bohler M390 blade with a flat grind and a 61 HRC heat treatment. M390 is a high-end powder metallurgy stainless steel valued for edge retention, corrosion resistance, and clean finishing potential. On this knife, the polished blade gives strong contrast against the darker titanium handle construction.
The handles, backspacer, and pocket clip are made from Grade 5 titanium. The latch is Damasteel, adding a small but meaningful material detail to the build. Morpho runs on Herman’s custom ceramic caged ball bearings, paired with in-house M390 steel washers. Herman machines, hardens, EDM-cuts, and hand-laps these washers to a high finish, improving bearing consistency and reducing roughness in the action.
The pivot system is also produced in-house by Herman Knives. It uses a TORX T20 construction with a hardened 440C stainless steel pivot and matching hardened screws. The result is a balisong with stable adjustment, smooth operation, and a more technical construction than most butterfly knives in this category.
At 248 mm overall with a 106 mm blade and 150 g weight, the Morpho is large enough for confident handling but still practical as a functional knife. It comes with the original Herman box, microfiber cloth, Pruciak Protector Glide oil, and a dedicated stainless steel screwdriver.
This is a sharp live-blade balisong. Buyers are responsible for checking local knife laws before purchase or carry.
